Creamy Blueberry Salad Dressing

easy healthy creamy blueberry salad dressing

If you are looking for a salad dressing that is fresh, healthy and uber-delicious, this creamy blueberry salad dressing is the one for you! It is fruity and sweet, but don’t worry – it’s completely sugar-free! Not to mention – it looks divine! It is sure to be a favorite among kids and adults alike!

Making my own salad dressings is something I started doing less than 5 years ago. I was always a huge salad lover, but I didn’t know many recipes for salad dressings. To be honest, I didn’t really think about it. To make salads different each day, I’d just change the combination of veggies. Sometimes, instead of squeezing lemon into a salad, I’d put apple cider vinegar. If I wanted other interesting dressings – I’d just buy from stores. That’s it! But all that changed during my pregnancy and breastfeeding days. I started reading more about nutrition, and also got tips from my midwives. I began trying to make salad dressings at home. Turns out it’s easier than most of us think!

Once you make salad dressings at home, you’ll like those more than the store-bought ones. I wouldn’t say you’ll never buy store-bought ones again ;P I always have 1 or 2 bottles of store-bought dressings in my fridge for those super lazy days. The thing about homemade dressings is that you can create so many varieties of dressings you wouldn’t normally find easily in stores. Also, they are free of preservatives, artificial flavorings and colors. You have absolute control over what goes into the dressing!

Living in British Columbia, we are blessed with fruits fresh from the farms. Picking blueberries is a wonderful experience. I never knew blueberries could be sooo blue! You can even spot the blue between green leaves in the farm from afar! Farm-fresh blueberries are just breathtakingly beautiful and tasty!

How to make Creamy Blueberry Salad Dressing

Creamy Blueberry Salad Dressing is made of :

  • Fresh blueberries
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • Honey
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Plain Yogurt

Creating this recipe was fun! I played around with the ingredients, tasting the dressing each time I added something new and then thinking of what else could make it better. The proportions in this recipe are what finally worked for me.

Simply toss in all the ingredients into a blender or food processor, or toss them into a bowl and use an immersion blender. Blend till everything’s combined, and there you have it – a creamy super yummy blueberry salad dressing!

Make Ahead and Storage Tips

  • Store creamy blueberry salad dressing in an airtight container or mason jar and refrigerate for up to 4 days. Just remember to give it a shake before serving as the yogurt and oil may separate.
  • For meal prep or to pack a salad lunch to take to work or school, store the dressing in reusable dressing containers. Add the dressing to your salad only when you are ready to eat or else the salad will get soggy. I always pack salads this way, even for my pre-schooler!
