Nutella Hot Chocolate

Do you have a favorite Hot Chocolate recipe that never fails? No winter goes by without a Nutella Hot Chocolate at our house! Also perfect on cool rainy days or whenever you want to indulge on some chocolatey goodness 🙂 Creamy, frothy, ultra-decadent – this is the easiest and quickest way to make THE BEST hot chocolate! You HAVE to make this!

Warning: The divine chocolate hazelnut vapors from this hot chocolate may knock you over!

Over the years, I had tried making hot chocolate using cocoa powder. But, it was mostly meh :/ I always thought maybe the proportions weren’t right or maybe I just didn’t know enough about chocolates and their quality. And then one day, I mixed nutella in milk and that was it – the best hot chocolate I had made! Later, I tried adding a pinch of salt, and it was heavenly! The salt lifted the taste and made it even more chocolatey. This has since been my go-to hot chocolate recipe!

At our house, we have a tradition of having hot chocolate on Christmas mornings while we sit around the tree to open gifts from Santa. 🙂 The last few Christmases, it was Nutella Hot Chocolate that made our Christmas mornings even more special.

These days, there are several brands making yummy chocolate hazelnut spreads. Though I say ‘Nutella’ here, you can use any chocolate hazelnut spread you have.

With or without toppings?

You can have Nutella Hot Chocolate plain or with toppings like whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate chips, chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, crushed hazelnuts (or any nut of your choice), or chocolate syrup.

This Hot Chocolate is uber delicious even with no toppings – I enjoy it to the last drop! On special or festive occasions, I add toppings. My favorite toppings are marshmallows and chocolate shavings. The marshmallows turn into an amazing frothy cream as they melt in the hot chocolate!
